Everybody enjoys at least one of the famously delicious boxes of Girl Scout cookies. The yummy cookies go so far beyond the $3.50 cost by providing a priceless experience for the girls that sell them.
Girl Scouts kicked off their cookie selling season this past Saturday with door to door and order sales. These sales will end January 23 and cookie delivery will be February 5-12. Booth sales will run from February 18 until March 27.
“The cookie sales aren’t all about the cookies. It’s a tool to teach the girls about business and self esteem,” says Beth Shea, Vice President of Communications and Development for the Girl Scouts of San Jacinto.
The cost for each box of cookies is $3.50 and the cookies come in a variety of flavors, including Thin Mints, Caramel deLites, Peanut Butter Sandwiches, Peanut Butter Patties, Shortbread, Thanks-A-Lots, Lemonades, and the new Shout Outs, a Belgian-style caramelized cookie.
Approximately 70 percent of every purchase stays in the local council to provide a portion of the resources needed to support Girls Scouts in that area, including a portion going directly to the group selling the cookies.
