From family friendly to laugh-out-loud funny, Conroe’s theaters are in full bloom! Two of the new shows on the schedule for April include extras such as refreshments and art exhibits. And, with prices ranging from Free to $14, there is something for everyone!

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST Presented by Christian Youth Theatre The Christian Youth Theatre (CYT) group will present the Disney classic “Beauty and the Beast,” at Conroe High School on April 23, 24 and 25. CYT is a children’s musical theater group which caters to actors ages 6 to 18 and included in the cast of this family favorites are aspiring local thespians Catherine Breeding as “Babette,” of Conroe; Kyle Bostick as “the Beast,” of Conroe Zach Coleman as “Cogsworth,” of Montgomery; Noah Smith as “Chip,” of Montgomery and Emily Holguin as “Mrs. Potts,” also of Montgomery.

THE MISS FIRECRACKER CONTEST Presented by LSC-Montgomery Theater Lone Star College-Montgomery will present “The Miss Firecracker Contest,” at the college with a free preview showing including live entertainment and refreshments on April 21 at 5:30 p.m., with doors opening at 4 p.m. Premium shows will begin at 7:30 p.m. on April 22 and run through April 24 with a matinee at 2 p.m. on the last day.

“This show revolves around a girl’s misguided desire to become the Miss Firecracker winner in a small town,” said director Chase Waites. “She wants it for all the wrong reasons and she thinks she’s going to get dignity, pride and attention and that people will recognize her as beautiful,” he explained. “It’s a good old-fashioned southern comedy.”
